It’s summer time!
If spring brings spring cleaning, I find summer leads to redesigning and redecorating. Need some inspiration? You’re about to love me. I’ve got everything from accents to painting, all with an indie twist!
There are 168 different stencils in the Stencil Boss shop. I want about 130 of them. Seriously, if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to really pop an accent wall or jazz up that old table, try painting with these stencils! They have everything from damask to birch trees with birds. Don’t want to stencil a whole wall? They have pillow size stencils, too! Don’t forget to visit them on Facebook for awesome decorating ideas.
Want something for that high ceiling, or an upcoming party? Pom Decors has fun poms (in 68+ colors!) and more. Get a single pom or 10, grab some washi tape, Divine Twine, paper straws, or any of the other goodies they have handy. Hang the poms near a (low heat!) light for a really interesting effect.
Okay, so this isn’t the most obvious design or decor choice, but we all need these. Seriously, what good is having a pretty room if no one will walk in because of odors? Kristina’s Smelly Jelly jars are cute enough to leave out anywhere, come in a variety of awesome scents and colors, and I can guarantee your customer service experience will be phenomenal. Streeter & Company also has hand painted terracotta pots and hanging air fresheners, if these little beauties don’t fit the bill.
As a side note, Kristina also graciously manages the A-List, of which we are members. If this list only whets your whistle I highly recommend browsing the list for other great indie businesses!
A Bow For Mama makes such fantastic decor bows! How cute would these be on curtain tie-backs, or on the backs of chairs for a party? If you don’t need a big decor bow try her pin board bows. There’s a big pin in back to affix it to your board or what have you, and another small one on the front to clip notes, pictures, or even name cards. So cute!
Was the stenciling too much trouble for your hectic schedule? How about some vinyl decals, then. Art of Vinyl has dozens of designs and you can customize many with names. You can pick from many colors, also! Clearly the one above is great for a child’s room, but they have great skyline decals or “mustache love” decals that would go anywhere.
The Flower Craft Shop has fantastic paper, felt, and yarn flowers to spruce up your room without adding allergens or tempting your cats. ( I know I’m not the only one whose cats enjoy a good plant!) These are beautiful, and not a big project that needs taking on. Brighten up a room, don’t break the bank, and when combined with a smelly jelly from above, you won’t miss the real thing!
